All are welcome at the AVFD Ham & Bean Supper
The Alna Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) will hold its first ham and bean supper in three-and-a-half years at the Firehouse on Saturday, April 1, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is by donation (cash or check only).
The supper will include tasty baked beans (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian), delicious ham, fresh rolls amd bread, and homemade side dishes, salads and desserts. The supper will also include a pie auction, a craft raffle, and a 50/50 raffle. Fire Chief Mike Trask will auction off the pies.
The craft raffle includes three wooden items made by local artists: A cherry platter, by Bill Wood (value $55); a maple bowl by Dick Picard (value $200), and a charcuterie board, by Tom Aldrich (value $85).
The event, spearheaded by a group self-named the Ham and Bean Supper Revival Committee, will give the community an opportunity to get together, as well as to raise funds for the AVFD.
The Alna Firehouse is located at 1579 Alna Road (Route 218). Those unable to attend who wish to make a donation to the AVFD may send their donations to P.O. Box 267, Alna, ME 04535.
