Alna makes Liz Brown town clerk
Alna selectmen announced Friday, they hired Liz Brown as the next town clerk. Brown, an Alna resident, succeeds Lisa Arsenault.
Brown was one of five applicants; the board interviewed her Friday morning, then gave her the job, First Selectman David Abbott said in a midday phone interview. He said Brown has worked for the town before, in a number of roles including deputy town clerk and assistant treasurer. Part of her service was when he previously served as a selectman in the 1990s, he added.
Asked why the board picked her, Abbott cited Brown’s experience working for the town. “She did a good job. And she’s very personable and easy to get along with,” he added.
Brown will begin training with Arsenault right away, Abbott said. He said Arsenault will continue working on a limited basis for some time to get Brown up to speed on the computer system and help prepare for the June election.
Brown did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment on her new job.
