Join us at the Southport Memorial Library on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 to welcome author Gerry Boyle for an author talk.

Gerry Boyle is the author of 16 crime novels, including the acclaimed Jack McMorrow mystery series. His latest novel is “Robbed Blind: A Jack McMorrow Mystery.” The previous McMorrow novel, “Random Act” was awarded the 2020 Maine Literary Award for crime fiction, the second time a McMorrow novel has been chosen for that honor. 

Background from the Islandport Press: The concluding novel (following “Robbed Blind”)  is tentatively slated for the spring of 2024. Islandport Press has previously published three original Boyle novels and has also redesigned and reissued the entire McMorrow series. Boyle began his writing career in newspapers, an industry he calls the “best training ground ever.” His first reporting job was in the paper mill town of Rumford before he moved on to the (Waterville) Morning Sentinel where he wrote a thrice weekly column. He spent a lot of time in courtrooms and police stations which inspired the creation of McMorrow. Boyle, who later worked at Colby College, his alma mater, is now retired.

In “Robbed Blind” is McMorrow’s world turned upside down? With moonlighting cops doing weed-shop security, stories told, not in print, but on podcasts, his daughter dancing on TikTok, and his battle-honed reporting skills brought to bear for a story Jack knows will never be written. McMorrow risks his life in order to ensure that, in at least this one case of good vs. evil, good won’t go down without a fight. But in this 13th installment, the question looms larger than ever—will Jack McMorrow survive to fight another day?
