Boothbay/Wiscasset boys finish third in opening MVC meet
It was a good start for the Boothbay/Wiscasset track and field boys' team April 22 as it posted a third place finish in the Mountain Valley Conference meet in Lisbon. It was an even better day for sophmore AJ Crocker who won the 3,200M and finished second in the 800M.
Ben Gapsky also fared well in the meet. He won the 110M hurdles, finished second in the 300M hurdles, and captured sixth in the long jump. The relay teams also posted strong results. In the 800M, Boothbay/Wiscasset won with a nine minute, 51.2 time. In the 4x100M relay: Boothbay/Wiscasset team finished second with a 49.38 time. In the 4x400M relay, Boothbay/Wiscasset finished third with a four minute, 14.77 mark. Mountain Valley won with 4:08.74.Ross Gaffney finished second in the 1,600M race walk.
In the overall team standings, Lisbon won the event with 259 points. Mountain Valley scored 108 and Boothbay/Wiscasset tallied 79.
In the 100M: Joseph Lauria of Telstar finished first with a 11.85 second time. Boothbay/Wiscasset sprinter Isaac Fanslau finished fifth with 12.48.
In the 800M: Reid Parlin ran a two minute, 19.02 second time in winning the event. AJ Crocker of Boothbay/Wiscasset finished second with a 2:19.72. Louie Caidoc of Boothbay/Wiscasset finished fourth a 2:27.75 mark.
In the 3200M: Crocker won running an 11 minute and 2.85 second time. Teammate Ross Gaffney finished fifth with a 12:56.59 time.
In the 110M hurdles: Ben Gapski of Boothbay/Wiscasset won with an 18.33 second mark.
In the 300M hurdles: Gapski finished second running a 51.38 second time. Mountain Valley's Logan Crews won with a 46.59 second time.
In the 4x100M relay: the Boothbay/Wiscasset team finished second with a 49.38 time. In the 4x 400M relay, Boothbay/Wiscasset finished third with a four minute, 14.77 mark. Mountain Valley won with a 4:08.74 mark. In the 800M, Boothbay/Wiscasset won with a nine minute, 51.2 mark. Lisbon finished second with a 9:51.82 mark.
In the long jump: Boothbay/Wiscasset's Ben Gapski finished sixth with a 17 feet, 7.75 mark. Telstar's Joseph Lauria won with 20-6. In the shot put: Boothbay/Wiscasset's Logan Bourne finished fifth with a 35-foot, nine-inch throw. Spencer Baldwin of Lisbon won with a 40-10.25 throw.
In the 1,600M race walk: Boothbay/Wiscasset's Ross Gaffney finished second with an eight minute, 38.27 second mark. Ryan Hanlon of Lisbon won with an 8"30.13 mark.
The team's next meet is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in Wiscasset.
