BRHS students' Pancake Breakfast 'best ever'
Jen Mitchell, owner of Brady's restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, handed over the establishment again to help the Boothbay Region High School junior class raise funds for its Project Graduation trip after its members graduate. An annual pancake breakfast is held and Mitchell called this past Saturday's event "the best ever," meaning its popularity.
Mitchell, who also helped in the kitchen and donated pancake batter and bacon, said the restaurant filled up within minutes after the doors opened at 8.
"Sorry for the delay but you can only cook about a dozen pancakes on the grill at one time," said Mitchell to the crowded restaurant about an hour into the event.
Meanwhile, as the plates of pancakes, Belgian waffles and bacon were set under the heat lamp and ready for delivery, BRHS juniors were also busy taking orders and delivering coffee, ice tea, or water to attendees. A $10 donation was asked at the door.
"These students are really getting a crash course in restaurant work," said Mitchell.
