Call for Maine Photography Show 2013 entries
The dates have been set, the Maine Photography Show judge has been chosen and it is about time to select your best photographs and email your entries.
Entries will be taken December 1 through February 1, 2013. Go to www.mainephotographyshow.com for entry form, rules and details.
There are four categories: Color, Black & White, Trees and Student. Trees is the theme category this year. Trees are essential in our lives, and this annual special theme celebrates them in all aspects. Trees provide us with fuel, food, paper and other products. They are part of the landscape and provide shade and shelter. The are also important for the ecology, producing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the air. Trees provide habitat for animals and plants. They even have mythological aspects. We are soliciting images that represent trees in a creative way.
Student photography can be submitted in any of the above categories photographed by a person 18 or under.
All photographers who live in Maine or have a summer home here are invited to enter. The cost to enter is $10 per image with a maximum of three images which can be in different categories.
The 2013 show judge is the nationally known nature photographer Tony Sweet. According to his website, “After 20 years as a professional jazz artist, Tony changed careers and directed his creative juices toward nature photography.
“Today, Tony’s work is published on greeting cards, calendars, post cards, posters, annual reports, catalogs, and electronic mediums. He is represented by Pictor, Woodfall Wild Images, Digital Vision, and Orion stock agencies. In 1994, Tony started his Art of Nature Photography workshop company, which conducts workshops in the eastern United States. His work is featured in Rangefinder magazine and Shutterbug magazine on an ongoing basis and as contributor to Nikonnet.com.”
