Celebrating under the moon with Morris Farm
The Morris Farm Trust hosted its Winter’s Moon Celebration February 25 at Le Garage Restaurant, with more than 50 supporters attending the event to watch the moon rise over the Sheepscot River and to enjoy a dinner by Chef Mikael Andersson.
The event is held each year to support the internal operations of the Morris Farm, According to the Morris Farm Treasurer Jack Swanton, about $1,000 was raised for that purpose at Monday evening’s event.
“More than the dollars that was raised, it allowed people to socialize and enjoy the evening with their friends and neighbors.” Swanton said.
Mikael Andersson’s meal included a dinner of meats and vegetables that were grown locally. Before and during dinner the guests were entertained by the “14 Strings” band.
Kim Andersson was honored by the Morris Farm trustees during the evening she was hired as a bookkeeper but became passionate about the mission of the Morris Farm, according to Board President David Pope.
Kim Andersson put considerable energy and talent into existing education programs, and started the Primary School Gardens and outdoor classroom. She is stepping aside as an employee of the farm and pursues her school teaching career.
The Morris Farm Trust was formed in the mid 1990s to promote the value of sustainable agriculture and stewardship of the earth through education, demonstration and community involvement.
