Dennis A. Brown
Dennis Allen Brown, 60, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Maine Medical Center on February 2, 2014.
He was born on June 9, 1953 in Boston, Mass., to Ken Brown and Joan Proctor.
Dennis grew up in Boothbay Harbor and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1971. After high school, he attended college at both Husson University and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. While at college, he spent his time studying business management and cooking.
After college, he continued his career at Brown’s Wharf, where he had worked since he was 11 years old. He spent most of his time behind the line as the head chef before transitioning to the front desk. This move gave him more time to spend with family, which he cherished.
Even though he had moved away from the kitchen at work, he was famous for his Onion Soup, Baked Stuffed Lobster and Lobster Newburgh. He loved being in the kitchen creating new dishes for the many returning visitors of the Wharf.
In his younger years, he spent time outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He was an avid NASCAR fan, particularly of Dale Earnhardt Jr., and had a big collection of model NASCAR cars.
Dennis was predeceased by his sister, Connie Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sherri Brown of Boothbay; three children, Ashley Holloway and husband Ben of Woolwich; Cody Brown of Boothbay, and Kelsey Brown of Boothbay; two grandchildren, Lilly Brown of Boothbay and Calvin Holloway of Woolwich; parents, Ken and Joan Brown of Boothbay Harbor; brothers, Larry Brown and wife Rosemary of Boothbay Harbor and Timmy Brown and his wife Liz of West Boothbay Harbor; sister, Michelle Wilson and husband Kevin of Boothbay Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private ceremony in the spring with the family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dennis’ name at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, 27 Atlantic Highway, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
