Dressing down benefits FARMS
Employees of The First recently raised $732 for FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools) operating in Lincoln County. Employees in all 16 branch locations collected the funds in exchange for the privilege of dressing casually on Fridays for one month.
The FARMS Farm to School Program is an integrative, educational enrichment program in Lincoln County, Maine that engages school-age children, their families, and their communities in a lifestyle of healthier eating choices. This goal is achieved in part by working directly with children in elementary schools and camps by offering fun, hands-on taste tests, cooking classes and clubs, and organic gardening education.
FARMS is supported by Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF), Rising Tide Community Market, The Morris Farm Trust, Maine Agriculture in the Classroom, and many generous, local citizens and businesses. For more information, visit www.mefarms.org.
Since 1995, employees of The First have been dressing casually on Fridays in support of charitable organizations throughout their market areas in Maine. Each participating employee contributes one dollar to the Casual for a Cause fund in exchange for the privilege of dressing casually.
The First has been serving the financial needs of Maine people since 1864, with banking and investment management offices in fifteen communities along the coast and in Bangor. For more information about The First, please call 1-800-564-3195, visit www.thefirst.com or find us on Facebook.
