Earth Day at Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat
Join us at the Merry Barn on Saturday, April 22, for a joyful celebration of Mother Earth and her infinite gifts. Now that the warm weather is finally upon us, we will ready our gardens and backyards for flowers, birds, and bees.
Dana Seifering begins her gorgeous book, “The Language of Flowers,” with “Dear Reader, Let me tell you a story that takes place in the most magical of gardens, blooming with every kind of flower you can fathom...It was not always this way.”
We’ll follow a bumblebee named Beatrice as she ventures from the safety of the meadow to spread kindness. We’ll learn about floriography, the language of flowers, and the meanings and symbolism of different plants and flowers.
Each participant can paint a terra cotta flower pot or a birdhouse as we snack on springtime treats. Join us from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Inspired by a new theme each month, Community Literacy Events at the Merry Barn are gatherings that highlight creativity through reading, writing, and the arts. Events are free and open to the public, and bring together folks from diverse backgrounds and generations. More information at www.merrybarn.com or merrybarnwritersretreat@gmail.com.
