Edgecomb Eddy begins after-school pilot program
Edgecomb Eddy School is now "piloting" an after-school program which began just prior to February vacation. The school has recognized a need for aftercare for families of students from pre-kindergarten through grade 6 by implementing quality programming at its 157 Boothbay Road location.
As there are many wonderful after-school programs and day care programs in the area, school officials recognizes the widespread need and convenience for students to stay after school. The program has seen as many as 25 students attend thus far. The program utilizes the school's cafeteria and stage, the gymnasium, as well as the art room for space for fun movement and activities.
The pilot program takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Parents and guardians may sign their child up by Thursday the previous week, through the survey sent to them by the school. Although there is no cost, the school is taking donations from families as this is the primary funding for the program. The suggested donation is $10 per week. The program is looking for staff for the remainder of the school year.
The program needs staff with experience working with children and CHRC certified (state background check) required for all school employees. Staff will supervise students in team activities, arts, outside playground, homework help, and others. Anyone interested should contact Principal Tom Landberg at the school.
