This is to thank you for the excellent coverage of the Purple Heart ceremony (“Almost 101 years later, Justin P. Wiley receives Purple Heart,” Aug. 8 issue) held at the Boothbay Harbor Coast Guard station on Coast Guard Day, Aug. 4.

Also, we the family of Justin Plummer Wiley, want to thank the crew at the station and the Charles Sherman American Legion post for their thorough efforts in organizing this event. Their efforts made the day a fitting salute to a young Coast Guardsman who lost his life in defense of our country.
