Five-way race for three Wiscasset selectmen’s seats
Five candidates, including two current Wiscasset selectmen and three past ones, are running for three board seats in the June 10 elections, Wiscasset Town Clerk Christine Wolfe said.
Nomination papers were due by 4 p.m. Friday, April 25.
Those filing for the three selectmen’s seats were incumbents Judy Colby and Jeff Slack, and former selectmen David Nichols, Benjamin Rines Jr. and William Barnes, Wolfe said. Each seat is for a two-year term.
Selectmen’s Chairman Ed Polewarczyk did not seek reelection.
Michael Dunn was the lone resident to file papers for a seat on the School Committee. He will be on the ballot for the one with two years left on the term from which Sharon Nichols is resigning, Wolfe said. No one filed papers for the other seat up for grabs, a new three-year term. Colleen Bennett decided not to seek reelection to that seat. If a write-in doesn’t snag the seat and accept it, the committee would appoint someone to it until the June 2015 election.
No one filed papers for four seats on the budget committee, Wolfe said. If write-ins don’t get them, the selectmen would appoint members. Of two Water District trustees up for election, the only one on the ballot will be incumbent Gregg Wood.
