Free fall concert Dec. 4
The public is invited to the Seacoast Orchestra Fall Concert on Tuesday evening, Dec. 4 at 7. This free performance will be held at the Lincoln Theater, 2 Theater St. in Damariscotta.
The Mezza players will perform works by George Frederick Handel, Leroy Anderson and Bela Bartok. Styles range from Baroque to the 20th century - with even a Tango in there.
Avanzata musicians will play the Mozart Serenade known as “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” possibly Mozart's most famous work written in 1797. It was said of this work, " … even if we hear it on every street corner, its high quality is undisputed, an occasional piece from a light but happy pen.”
The more advanced Mezza and Avanzata orchestras are directed by Ferdinand Liva of the Daponte String Quartet. The Primo Orchestra is directed by Kaity Newell, director of the Great Salt Bay Community School Strings Program.
Seacoast Concerts in both the fall and spring are free to all. Donations are appreciated.
String players at all levels and ages are encouraged to be a part of one or more of the Seacoast Community Orchestras. Rehearsals are on Tuesday afternoons at Great Salt Bay Community School. Brass and Woodwind musicians are invited to join for the spring season when symphonic pieces are performed.
If you would like to play with the orchestras or have questions, please call contact Kaity Newell: 563-8440 or Ferdinand Liva 207- 729-4770, or check out seacoastorchestra.org.
