Dear Editor:

In this season of giving, Wiscasset Primary School has been given a very generous gift. We have recently received two large boxes of hats and mittens that were beautifully hand-knit by several different community members.

The staff and students of Wiscasset Primary School would very much like to thank the Westport Knitters, Pam Soule, Cathy Tyler and friends, Two Bridges Knitters and The First Mitten Tree People. This is an unbelievable donation to our school and we are so grateful.  

Many students come to school without hats and mittens every day. Our winter is already extremely cold and we are now able to provide those students who forget their outside clothing with vibrant, toasty warm hats and mittens.

The generosity of these knitters is greatly appreciated and we will be reminded of this amazing gift as we watch our students play in the snow and cold throughout the winter and as we walk through our hallways as they are displayed for all to see on a clothesline!
