Holly Stover is there when you need her
Dear Editor:
I am writing to express my support for Holly Stover in her efforts to be re-elected as our House Representative in District 89. I have known Holly for over 50 years, having attended school with her at the little schoolhouse in East Boothbay which is now the East Boothbay Fire Station, the Boothbay Center School and BRHS.
As many of you know, Holly is incredibly involved in our community and works tirelessly to help many. I don’t think there is a person reading this letter that doesn’t have a family member or friend or know of someone who has been helped by Holly in a time of need. If you need immediate assistance and guidance with someone having an opioid crisis, is in need of food, housing, heating oil or wood, is in a domestic violence situation, etc. Holly is there, working in conjunction with our Police Department and The Community Resources Council. Holly does all this and more, on a local level.
Here is a sampling of legislation Holly has sponsored or co-sponsored during her tenure as our current Representative:
* An Act to address the needs of children with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
* An Act to protect victims of domestic and sexual violence.
* An Act to eliminate single-use plastic carry-out bags.
* An Act to prohibit offshore oil and natural gas drilling and exploration.
* An Act to provide timely access to behavioral health services for Maine children.
* An act to save lives by capping the out-of-pocket cost of certain medications.
Holly worked in Human Resources for the state for many years and knows her way around Augusta. I hope you will all join me in supporting Holly Stover with your vote on Nov. 3.
