Jean Kigel open studio Aug. 9-11
Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery, 1396 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro hosts an Open Studio on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Aug. 9, 10, and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This event marks Kigel’s 24th annual Eastern Views exhibition of Asian brush paintings, watercolors, and oils. Her signature painting, “Undersea Encounter” depicts two rare, blue lobsters meeting on the floor of the sea. This is the original watercolor for the 2024 Maine Lobster Festival poster.
Kigel invites the public to enjoy her collection of paintings as well as to tour her perennial gardens by the sea. Her landscapes and still-lives are largely representational: however, many are stylized by geometric realism. Kigel’s show is in conjunction with SoWA, an open studio tour of 12 artist studios south of Waldoboro. Download the SoWA map at sowamaine.org.
Light refreshments will be available. To preview Kigel’s show: jeankigel.wordpress.com.
