Join us for Responsible Beverage Server training this April in Boothbay Harbor
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Healthy Lincoln County are excited to announce a comprehensive Responsible Safe Beverage training session this April aimed at enhancing safe alcohol-serving practices in local establishments. The training is designed to reduce the risk of alcohol-related incidents and ensure that businesses are operating within the state’s legal guidelines.
With summer approaching, many local businesses are hiring new employees who may not be familiar with checking IDs or Maine’s liquor laws. Experienced staff will benefit from additional training in these crucial practices. Business owners are highly encouraged to send their staff to this training, ensuring they are well-prepared with the essential knowledge and skills to serve alcohol safely and responsibly. Participants will learn key skills, including alcohol service laws, identifying fake IDs, recognizing signs of intoxication, preventing sales to minors, and more.
This course, led by Chief Deputy Rand Maker and Will Matteson, is part of a larger initiative to address issues such as drunk driving, binge drinking, and youth access to alcohol. It is offered through the Lincoln County Substance Use Prevention Partnership, which includes local community members, organizations, and youth working together to combat substance use in the area.
The training session will take place on Monday, April 14 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Boothbay Region YMCA in Boothbay Harbor. The cost is $15 per person, and attendees are required to register in advance at https://forms.office.com/r/830Q1sKdfw or by contacting Will Matteson at (207) 563-1330. Payment is accepted in cash or by check. The training is valid for three years, and participants must bring a state issued photo ID to the session.
Healthy Lincoln County is available as a resource for business owners and community members interested in further education on alcohol consumption risks and recognizing alcohol impairment in the workplace.
