Land Trust hosts FARMS talk
Boothbay Region Land Trust is proud to sponsor a talk by FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools) on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the BRLT office at 137 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. This event is free and open to everyone interested in the relationship between local foods and healthy communities.
FARMS was founded in 2004 and has successfully offered farm to school programming ever since. Realizing that in order for children to eat well a community must eat well, FARMS is creating a Community Kitchen where people of all ages can gather to learn and share cooking, preserving and gardening skills.
For FARMS, this is about creating long-term positive change for individuals and communities and it depends on education and hands-on experiential learning opportunities that engage and inspire people to make healthful choices for their bodies, the environment and the local economy.
Food is a fun vehicle for promoting positive change in our area and this talk will highlight the benefit of current FARMS work and the opportunities that lay ahead for community-wide participation. Learn about FARMS dedication to food security and to rebuilding a healthy food system in this engaging presentation.
Registration is requested by contacting BRLT at 207-633-4818 or brlt@bbrlt.org/.
