Last few days for double bill at Maine Art Gallery
Two concurrent shows, “Paint It!” Wiscasset, the Maine Art Gallery’s annual plein air event and “Drawn to Maine,” an exhibition of works on paper, will conclude on Sunday, July 21. Gallery hours are Thursday - Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The plein air show on the first floor of the gallery is filled with fresh paintings of local vistas throughout Lincoln County. The artists spent a week in mid-June creating art in Wiscasset and beyond — even as far as Monhegan Island, which is actually part of Lincoln County!
On the second floor, a juried show of drawing and printmaking curated by Michael Olszewski has received high praise from visitors for the quality and variety of the processes employed. Some of the comments heard around the room and recorded in the guest book included "Wondrous!" and "Exceptional!"
Following these shows, the gallery, located in Wiscasset’s Old Academy building, will prepare for “Made in Maine: Annual Members Show.” This exhibition will feature recent work in a variety of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and assemblage. Show dates of July 25 - Sept. 8, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 27.
The gallery thanks Season Sponsor Sherri Dunbar - Tim Dunham Realty, Capital Sponsor Islebrook Villages at Wiscasset, and current exhibit sponsors Barnes Custom Window Treatments and Ames True Value Hardware.
The gallery is located at 15 Warren St. More information about this show and others at www.maineartgallerywiscasset.org
