LCCT presents ‘Saint Dad’ Nov. 21-24
Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT) takes the Lincoln Theater stage once again as they proudly present “Saint Dad,” a heartwarming comedy by acclaimed Maine playwright, award-winning novelist, and memoirist Monica Wood. Join us for this heartwarming and humorous tale about the Casey family and the fictional Maine town of Greeney Lake, as they grapple with faith, family, and forgiveness.
“Saint Dad” plays for one weekend only, opening Thursday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 24. “Saint Dad” is a play about real Maine issues. An ensemble of local actors star in this warm, witty, and insightful production highlighting themes of family dynamics, generational tensions, and the changing landscape of Maine.
Wood’s latest novel, “How to Read a Book,” joins a celebrated body of work, including “The One-in-a-Million Boy,” translated into 20 languages, and “When We Were the Kennedys,” a New England bestseller and recipient of the May Sarton Memoir Award. Known for her compelling storytelling, Wood's other novels, such as “Any Bitter Thing” and “Ernie’s Ark,” have captivated readers and communities across the country.
In addition to her novels, Wood has written award-winning short stories, anthologized essays, and nonfiction featured in publications like Oprah, The New York Times, and Martha Stewart Living. Her play writing career has flourished as well, with her first play, “Papermaker,” setting attendance records at Portland Stage. “Saint Dad” had its world premiere with Portland Stage Company in 2023 as part of its 50th season celebration, further cementing Wood’s reputation for storytelling that resonates with humor, heart, and insight.
Wood is the 2024 recipient of the Sara Josepha Hale Award for excellence in New England literary arts, adding to her numerous accolades.
There are five performances of “Saint Dad,” directed by John Mulcahy, and starring Emily Rose, Christina Belknap, Nanette Hennig Fraser, Gregory J. Hawks, Peter Henderson, and Jennifer True.
Show dates and times: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23. There are two matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24.
Tickets are $20 adult, $18 theater members, and $5 for youth ages 18 and under, are available now through the Lincoln Theater’s online box office at Lincolntheater.net. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime. Please note that this play contains adult themes and is not suitable for young children.
