Le Café Français, a French conversation group, resumes on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Damariscotta Baptist Church. The meetings are free of charge and happen from noon to 1:15 p.m. every Thursday in the upstairs classroom.

The group welcomes French speakers of all levels and encourages participation by all present, without pressure, allowing attendees to have a “mini French immersion” experience once a week. Discussion topics include personal interests, travel experiences in France and French culture, current French and international French events and entertainment in Maine. Conversation leaders include experienced French instructor Margot Stiassni and other volunteers. Though not a formal language class, new phrases, vocabulary, and pronunciation are explained.

Drop-in participants are welcome anytime. Bring your bag lunch or a snack to share or just bring yourself. Occasionally, French treats are also offered. Tea, coffee and water are always available. For more information, please call Margot Stiassni at 882-7593.
