Over 600 music lovers and supporters of Midcoast Conservancy and Hidden Valley Nature Center attended the sixth annual Live Edge Music Festival in Jefferson on Sunday, Aug. 20.

“We are here to have a good time mostly,” said Midcoast Conservancy Executive Director Jody Jones. Proceeds from the concert were to benefit the conservancy.

The musical talent spanned two generations with many growing up in the Midcoast. The Oshima brothers, Sean and Jamie, and Mick Jagger impersonator Josh Robbins grew up in Whitefield. Nate Shrock and Steve Jones of the Boneheads hail from South Bristol and North Newcastle, respectively. Deadra Taczli, leader of the Sirumem Belly Dancing Troupe, assembled her dancers from friends in the Whitefield area including her mother, Joan. Paul D’Alessio of Primo Cubano makes his home in Palermo.

John Gawler of the the Gawler Family Band said he and wife Ellen organized one of the early fiddle contests held at the Topsham Fairgrounds in 1973.

Concessions also came in most part from local providers. Pulled pork was provided from the owners of the Alna General Store. Pizza was catered by Harvest Moon Catering. Six kegs of beer were served by the Liberal Cup and Geary’s. Sponsors for the event were Cribstone Capital, Ames Supply and Mexicali Blues.

Each ticket sold came with a credit for an entree at one of 13 area restaurants.

HVNC, part of the conservancy, has 1,000 acres, 6,000 feet of lake frontage and 25 miles of trails. It is open for hiking, cross-country skiing and mountain biking. The center is located at 131 Egypt Road. For more information, call 207-389-5150 or visit midcoastconservancy.org
