Maine Tasting Center gets OK
The Wiscasset planning board approved the site plan for Maine Tasting Center Monday night. At 506 Bath Road, the former Wiscasset Heritage Village, the tasting center will become an “event space education center,” according to owner Andrew Gross. He and architect Amanda Austin presented the site plan application. The Board waived the site walk and public hearing because the general purpose of the property will not change and no new structures will be built.
The board also approved the site plan application from Tom Gilbert of East Coast Woodworking. His property at 424 Bath Road, the former Twisted Iron building, also does not require any new construction or a change of use.
Two requests from Clarks Point Development came before the board. Chair Karl Olson recused himself from both given his work on them as a surveyor. This left the board without a quorum. Graham Blanchette seeks to re-configure two lots and create a new one on River Road. When the board meets Nov. 9, it plans to schedule a site walk. The second request for Clarks Point, from Dan Colby, was not acted on for lack of a full application.
The board approved a request from Linda Stetson to waive the site plan review process for her property at 54 Water St. A new tenant will be using the space for retail and no new structures are being built.
The board meets next at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at Wiscasset Community Center.
