Monday blues
I had my to-do list ready, got a few things done, then “bam,” our internet provider went down around 8:30 on Monday morning – a replay of what happened in December.
We received email OK, so I kept busy editing and formatting the press releases, columns, letters and photos, but there was no way to enter them into the system. It was kind of like being without a car when you need to get somewhere out of town quickly or, if you are a builder or construction worker, your equipment breaks down.
At 2:45 p.m. on Monday, we got the message that there was no end in sight to fix the problem. Glory be! No website either! Glad we got the tournament games online during the past week.
I had to put the copy and photos on a thumb drive and hoped I would be able to enter the system at home Monday night … didn’t happen.
Then, luckily, the problem was fixed late Monday night and we were back in business Tuesday morning.
We did our best to get the paper out on time, with virtually one day to format the pages after loading 90% of the copy and ads onto the pages.
Technology is great but when something like this happens, and when you have a deadline looming, plan B starts rising to the surface. Glad we didn’t have to put our new/old printer, Lincoln County Publishing, in a predicament so early in the new arrangement.

Congratulations to the Seahawks basketball teams. Your effort at the Class C South tournament in Augusta last week made the Boothbay region proud. Let’s dethrone Winthrop next year!
