Morris Farm hiring for an AmeriCorps position
Morris Farm has received approval for a three-year AmeriCorps Vista position from the Maine Commission for Community Service. The Vista will work to help the Morris Farm recruit and coordinate volunteers for the farm store (opening next week) and other activities, work with Head Start on the development of food and nutrition-related educational programs, write a proposal to establish a commercial kitchen, and create an annual Food Security Community Forum — all as part of helping The Morris Farm focus on food security issues in Lincoln County.
AmeriCorps Vista is a national service program. Founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 40 years. Vista members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency. The Morris Farm position will have an option for continuing for three years. Vista members receive a living stipend and medical coverage. They also receive an education award at the end of their service to put towards student loans or grad school. For information visit the AmeriCorps Vista website (www.americorps.gov) to learn more about national service.
To apply for the position, please contact the Morris Farm office, 207-882-4080 or David Pope, 207-504-2380, or email info@morrisfarm.org.
