New GAP semester
Heartwood Theater is offering a new Gap Semester Program for college students who will not return to school this fall and high school seniors seeking preparation for college or conservatory training.
Artistic Director Griff Braley has devised a deep learning semester focused on theater, film and literature, open to a small ensemble (limit 10). Twelve weeks of conservatory style instruction, Sept. 8 through Nov. 25, are designed to sharpen performance, analysis, writing and literary skills and will culminate in final projects, both live and filmed. More workshops in voice, movement and audition will be available, and group activities will include creative labs.
Focused group experiences will include devising and acting for stage and film, strengthening of acting theory and practice, defining mastery of performance goals, managing live and virtual production schedules, along with individual and ensemble expectations in a rigorous setting.
The semester, with a $4,800 tuition, is designed to allow students ample time for outside jobs, performance lessons, online college courses and other educational endeavors. Auditions and/or recommendations may be required. Interested students must contact Heartwood by Saturday, Aug. 8 to discuss details and options by emailing info@heartwoodtheater.org or calling 563-1373.
