Pine Tree Society holiday cards impact Maine people with disabilities
Pine Tree Society’s holiday cards have been a Maine tradition for over 50 years. This year’s cards by noted Maine artists Sandy Crabtree and Jeannine Staples celebrate winter in Maine. Crabtree’s painting “December Cove” is new for 2024 and Staples’ “Afternoon Play” was selected from the archives for a special limited edition re-release of this customer favorite. One hundred percent of proceeds from card sales support Pine Tree Society’s programs.
“I’m glad Pine Tree Society keeps this tradition going,” said featured artist, Sandy Crabtree. “There’s something very personal about sending a Christmas card. I still receive cards from my family and out of state friends. You never know how touching getting a card is.”
Sandy’s painting “December Cove” depicts the incredible beauty of the Maine coast and the hard-working families who live and work here. Her paintings have been featured on Pine Tree Society’s holiday cards more than a dozen times. She is a noted children’s book illustrator and a longtime Bath resident who taught at Morse High School for nearly 30 years.
Jeannine Staples is known for her award winning Maine State Duck Stamps. “Afternoon Play” was last featured on a Pine Tree Society holiday card 25 years ago in 1999.
