Prepare for extreme cold
Preparing and planning ahead for weather events is good practice, especially for extreme weather.
We have dangerously cold temperatures forecasted for Friday and Saturday. Combined with high energy costs, many of us will be forced to find additional means of heating our homes. When you do this please keep fire safety in mind, and double check your setup. Don't hesitate to call for help if you want to have someone make sure it's safe. Extremely cold weather can limit the capabilities of firefighters and emergency responders.
Accidents happen, please be extra sure to add some layers when you go outside, you never know what might happen, those extra layers might buy you some time by providing you extra protection from frostbite and hypothermia. It’s always a good idea to have enough blankets and other supplies in your vehicle to keep you warm in an emergency.
We hope this serves as a good safety reminder and to take extra care to help emergency responders by preventing them from needing to respond. Rest assured if you do call for help, it will be on the way.
