Dear Editor:

Late last Tuesday afternoon, my husband and I were just finishing up “winter is coming yard work” when I smelled something that I thought might be gas. I asked my husband to verify, which he did, and he called Mid-Coast Energy, the last provider who worked in that area of the basement. Mid-Coast urged him to call the Wiscasset Fire Department and Main Street Fuel, our propane provider. We were also advised to leave the house at once.

Shortly after our calls, these extraordinary first responders from each of these businesses arrived. They assessed the situation and fixed the leak promptly. We were safely back in our home within an hour.

We can’t thank these hometown heroes enough for their rapid, professional concerned response. We are indeed fortunate to have them there in our community.
