River Arts asks for black, white, gray art submissions
River Arts announces it upcoming exhibition “Black, White, Gray,” at its newly-expanded and refurbished gallery and arts center at 241 Route 1, Damariscotta, next to N.C. Hunt Lumber. The show will run from December 28 to January 24.
Submissions must use only black, white or gray (any of these or a combination) and no other hues. Frames may be any color. All media, styles and subjects are welcome. All work entered must be for sale. Wall-hung work should not exceed 40 inches in any dimension, and for safety reasons plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels.
The judge for “Black, White, Gray” is Robert Colburn, curator and manager of the Bayview Galleries in Brunswick and Camden. From a family of professional artists, Robert Colburn grew up in Maine and decided at an early age to pursue art as a career. Colburn remains active as a painter, exhibiting at Asymmetrick Arts, Cape Cottage Gallery, the Clown, Bayview Galleries and many other locations.
Drop-off dates at River Arts’ new premises are Friday and Saturday, Dec. 21-22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early submissions are accepted within usual gallery hours. Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members, $20 for non-members.
Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been show at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at www.riverartsme.org and at the gallery when submitting.
