2024 Wild & Scenic Film Festival -  Presented by Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust invites you to the 7th annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival on tour at the Lincoln Theater. Kick back and enjoy a hand-picked selection of just-released short films, and enter to win great giveaways from Coastal Rivers and Wild & Scenic’s National Partners. The 2024 Wild & Scenic Film Festival inspires environmental activism and a love for nature through film. Wild & Scenic shares an urgent call to action, encouraging its audiences to learn more about what they can do to save our threatened planet. The films focus on environmental topics: the beauty and awe of the natural world, wilderness, adventure, wildlife, and the people advocating for our planet all over the world. There’ll be door prizes and beer, wine, and concessions available through the theater. Thursday, May 9 at 7 PM. Tickets: $12 adult, $7 youth under 16, Free for current Coastal Rivers members.

“One Life” - (NR; 1 hour, 49 minutes) - The true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued 669 predominantly Jewish children from the Nazis. Nicky visited Prague in December 1938 and found families who had fled the rise of the Nazis in Germany and Austria, living in desperate conditions with little or no shelter and food, and under threat of Nazi invasion. He immediately realized it was a race against time. How many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed? Fifty years later, it’s 1988 and Nicky lives haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England; always blaming himself for not doing more. It’s not until a live BBC television show, ‘That’s Life’, surprises him by introducing him to some surviving children – now adults – that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he had carried for five decades. “Madama Butterfly “ - The Met Live in HD (approx. runtime: 3 hours, 15 minutes - with 1 intermission) -With pre-opera talk with Dr. Morton Achter at 11:45 a.m. -  The third of Puccini’s “big three” - along with “La bohème,” “Tosca”  Madama Butterfly” cemented the composer’s reputation as the successor to Verdi and aptly illustrates the 19th and early-20th century’s fascination with “orientalism.” Although Butterfly was a failure at first, it subsequently became one of the most popular operas. Extraordinary soprano Asmik Grigorian tackles the demanding role of Cio-Cio-San, the loyal geisha at the heart of Puccini’s devastating tragedy. Tenor Jonathan Tetelman stars as the callous American naval officer Pinkerton, whose betrayal destroys her. Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong reprises the role of the steadfast maid Suzuki, and baritone Lucas Meachem is the American consul Sharpless. Acclaimed maestro Xian Zhang takes the podium to conduct Anthony Minghella’s vivid production. Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. Tickets: $25 adult, $23 LT member, $5 Youth.

“Dear England” - (R; 2 hours, 40 minutes - with one intermission) -National Theatre Live -  The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game? With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt, to take team and country back to the promised land. This new play by James Graham is directed by Rupert Goold and stars Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Gareth Southgate in James Graham’s (Sherwood) gripping examination of nation and game. Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre. Playing Thursday,  May 16 at 7 p.m. and Friday, May 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets: $15 adult, $13 member, $5 youth.
