Shaw’s, Hannaford to help HYS
St, Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry (HYS), 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, is pleased to announce it has been picked by Boothbay Harbor Hannaford’s new Bloomin’ 4 Good program during December. Every Bloomin’ 4 Good bouquet with the Bloomin’ red circle sticker sold provides a $1 donation to the food pantry.
That’s not the only way to support HYS. A shopper can take part in Shaw’s Give Back Where It Counts program. The pantry receives $1 for every Give Back bag sold during December at Wiscasset’s Shaw’s. The Shelf is grateful for all the support of the groups and people who have donated to the continuance of its mission. The money sent to the food pantry enhances the HYS’s ability to provide boxes of nutritious supplies weekly to those relying on the Shelf for sustenance during the holidays and every day.
HYS is open each Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A simple registration form allows the pantry to understand the dietary needs of each household and to endeavor to meet those needs. To review the process, go to the Pantry’s website or Facebook page.
Now that winter weather is looming, it is time to review our inclement weather policy: If Wiscasset schools are cancelled on Thursday, there is no Food Pantry that day. If schools are open the next day, Friday, our Pantry will be held that Friday with the same hours. However, if schools are cancelled on Friday, too, there will be no Pantry that week. Look for cancellations on our Facebook Page, or tune into Channels 6, 8, and 13 for cancellation listings.
In case of food emergency, call St. Philip’s at 882-7184, leaving a message with a return number, or message the Pantry through https://www.facebook.com/HelpYourselfShelfFoodPantry, or https://helpyourselfshelf.wordpress.com/ . The HYS mission is that no one should be without the most basic need, food.
