Dear Editor:

The town of Edgecomb and the selectmen would like to thank Sheriff Todd Brackett for attending our selectmen’s meeting on regarding traffic issues in Edgecomb on Nov. 19. Focus was upon the amount of traffic and the irresponsible driving that our residences are witnessing. Several neighbors attended specially from Middle and Dodge roads and there was mention of Eddy, McKay and other roads, also. His time and response was enlightening with focus on the volume of cars especially in season – summer and presently now with the holidays and the Botanical Gardens’ light show and activities in the Boothbay Harbor area. We must all be responsible as drivers adhering to street signs, traffic codes --- lights, speed limits and must pay attention to the volume of cars around and be super careful while driving on the roads.

I believe that there should be a social conscious and consequence that we must be aware of and respect the rules and regulations defined by our driver ‘s license. Driving is a privilege that we are given and it is crucial that we respect the traffic rules, speed limits and have a social value that we respect our neighbors to provide safety in their neighborhoods.

Again our profound thanks to Sheriff Brackett for his commitment to our communities and to care and protection his office is offering to enhance the standards of our living. We appreciate his involvement and effort to protect the town of Edgecomb.
