Tours of Bowdoin available June 3-5
Mark Gimbel is working with Maine Maritime Academy and the captain of schooner Bowdoin to plan three days of special events in Boothbay Harbor. The schooner will depart from the town dock off Commercial Street on Tuesday, June 6 at 12:30 p.m. for the coast of Labrador.
This trip is a dress rehearsal for the 2024 trip to the Arctic Circle and the coast of Greenland. They will follow the course sailed by Arctic explorer Donald MacMillan, original owner of Bowdoin.
Gimbel convinced Captain Alex Peacock that leaving from the same dock MacMillan used would create a special event. He hopes there will be many well wishers in the Whale Park or on boats to bid them farewell as they leave the harbor.
