Transitions
Last week had a different feeling to it, sort of.
Things started out on a little different beat- shifting gears a bit. The pace knocked down a notch or two.
The week started out with some family and soon-to-be senior photos. Lovely reunions with folks I have photographed for literally decades — their children and their children's children. Families were packing up after summer visits and returning home to start school. Get a family photo before we leave. Schools around the country are starting at what seems to me, odd times. Mid-August in Atlanta, for example.
As the week progressed, a different tempo emerged. A wonderful small, intimate wedding aboard a lovely local vessel with old friends and new, kind of set a new tone. A great ’70s era party followed the wedding to celebrate a 70th birthday, replete with large electric bright hair wigs, phosphorescent dayglo multi-colored pantsuits and stacked up elevated footwear. It was a riot of color hardly capturable in photos. My camera seemed to shreak as the images piled onto an unsuspecting memory card. Anticipated edits impossible!
Then, Saturday, a road trip to Lovell, Maine, to photograph a wedding overlooking the White Mountains on a too wonderful to be believed magnificent day and evening! Our whole family and old friends in attendance.
Our oldest daughter Mae even got home. Hannaford time! Food shortage had infested our icebox at home. We didn't binge, but we almost did. On the way home to Southport a couple big boats caught our eyes as we rounded Mill Cove, so we scooted over to McKown Point to get a closer look.
The “AXIS” ship, above, seemed unusual. My techno daughter launched an online site that revealed a large scale “AAA” of the sea. A service vessel which helps some of the more substantial vessels that visit, if a problem arises. Somehow problems with giant yachts seems improbable, but I guess not. That's one transition we can leave to others.
