Treats of Maine participating in Bakes for Breast Cancer program
Bakes for Breast Cancer is proud to announce that Treats of Maine, 80 Main St., in Wiscasset is participating in the inaugural Bakes for Breast Cancer Maine.
Bakes for Breast Cancer Maine is the fourth event in their annual series of events which helps raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. The inaugural Bakes for Breast Cancer Maine takes place from Monday, Aug. 2 to Sunday, Aug. 8. Registration is currently open and interested participants can register now.
Restaurants, bakeries, cafés, chocolatiers, sweet shops and any other venue that prides itself on its desserts can participate in one of two ways – by offering one designated dessert where 100% of the proceeds go towards the organization, or offering the entire dessert menu as designated desserts where 50% of the proceeds go to the nonprofit breast cancer organization Bakes for Breast Cancer.
“We are on a mission to end breast cancer for good, one sweet treat at a time,” said Bakes for Breast Cancer Founder, Carol Sneider. “Providing seed money to make research possible is very rewarding. It helps those not only in our community but beyond. We continue to grow which enables us to do more. I’m completely in awe of the people who support the venues and our organization in a number of other ways. We’re pleased to have been able to grow this year’s initiative with the expansion to Maine and be a part of the robust culinary scene that’s developed there in recent years.”
With the new addition of Maine to their event series, there will also be upcoming events in the Cape & Islands, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The Cape & Islands and Maine fundraiser will be held simultaneously on the same dates, August 2 – 8, 2021. Massachusetts and Rhode Island Bakes for Breast Cancer will both be held Oct. 1-Oct. 7.
Bakes for Breast Cancer is seeking participating establishments for all four of their 2021 events. Bakeries, cafés, pastry shops and restaurants throughout Massachusetts, the Cape & Islands, Rhode Island, and Maine will participate during this year’s fundraisers. Registration takes place at bakesforbreastcancer.org/registration. Since its inception in 1999, Bakes for Breast Cancer has raised over 2 million dollars for breast cancer research and awareness, and hundreds of different bakeries, cafés, pastry shops and restaurants have participated.
