UPDATED: Flagship Inn, Anchor Restaurant sold by LLC
In mid-December, 200 Townsend Avenue, LLC (managed by Midcoast Hospitality Group - MHG) sold Boothbay Harbor’s iconic Flagship Inn, located at 200 Townsend Ave., in an off-market deal to 7 Shree Savitri Hospitality LLC (7SSH) of Moody. The inn, a site of hospitality for over 30 years, will remain an inn; it has 82 rooms and suites, including pet friendly and wheelchair accessible offerings, according to Paul Patel, owner of 7SSH.
MHG president, Scott Larson, commented that he’s “excited to see the new ownership continue with the scheduled renovations, bringing the inn up to date by giving each room a more modern look with new furnishings. The Flagship Inn will continue to be a valuable resource for those looking to visit the Boothbay Harbor region year-round!”
The property’s approximately eight acres, the inn, and Anchor restaurant at 204 Townsend Ave. which has operated seasonally and for holiday pop ups since re-opening in November 2022, were conveyed in the transaction. “The Flagship Inn has been a pillar of hospitality, creating cherished memories for guests throughout its storied existence, and as part of the acquisition, the renowned restaurant is included, promising a seamless and delightful experience for patrons who have come to love the culinary offerings at our establishment,” wrote Patel in an email to the Register.
The inn will be managed by SB Management LLC, which operates six hotels in the Wells-Ogunquit area and the Bay Haven Lobster Pound restaurant in Cornish. Patel said affordable comfort and attentive service will remain at the forefront under the new ownership and management team.
The new owner aims for a reinvigorated inn and is remodeling its rooms and suites with new furniture, fixtures, flooring, paint and modern appliances. Patel expects to complete these upgrades by spring, noting it is an ambitious timeline. Familiar faces will remain. “We are pleased to confirm that all existing staff members will remain with us – essential for a smooth transition. Their dedication and familiarity with the property contribute significantly to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that defines the Flagship Inn,” said Patel.
“We are immensely proud and excited about the future of the Flagship Inn and the community of Boothbay Harbor. We are committed to maintaining the inn as a year-round destination, with the goal of continuing to provide exceptional service,” wrote Patel.
