“One of the funnest” is what what our girls used to say when they were little, and I always liked it. One of the funnest things about this area is still the views. A view from up on a hill or down on the water, or around a bend or from the air – there are so many neat ways to see how this area is put together, built up, rearranged and consequently, looked at.
When you view downtown from over on Atlantic Avenue, with a little longer camera lens (which compresses things) it's amazing how much there is piled up on the hill. The area from the Chowder House toward the top of Fullerton Street looks pretty full. This time of year you can see it better.
It's not possible to see as well when the leaves are out or when you are visiting with Marita at Mung Bean on Townsend Avenue. Not enough room to back up.
The view from Mt. Pisgah must have been impressive when there were fewer trees. From our old home in the harbor, up on Sherman Street where the coast guard flags used to fly, you could see forever, almost.
