On September 29, Morris Farm will hold its Evening on the Farm Autumn Auction. We need your help cleaning up the barn and education center, setting up the auction, running the auction and final clean-up. If you would like to and can help with one of the tasks listed below, call 586-5047.

Tasks

On Friday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., we need five people to clean and decorate.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, in the morning starting at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., we'll be setting up the tables with table cloths and auction items in the barn and education center. Also, we'll be setting up chairs for the live auction in the education center; we need 6 people. A couple of people with closed vans or station wagons are needed for transporting the auction items from their storage places in Dresden and Newcastle to the Farm. Anyone coming up from the south could pick up the rental linens, china and glassware.

In the afternoon, by 4:30 p.m., we need four people to set up food and drink. We'll need to have three valets in place. At the auction itself, we need: three to four meet and greeters at the door checking people in and taking money from 4 to 6 p.m.; kitchen duty, two to three people heating hors d'oeuvres, cleaning dishes, from 5 to 7 p.m.; four people to pass hors d'oeuvres and to collect used plates and glasses, from 5 to 7 p.m.

At 7 p.m. when the silent auction closes till 9 p.m. we need: streakers to mark closing bids on silent auction items; baggers to bag each bidders silent auction items; adders to accurately total each bidders winning bids; and five runners and Vanna Whites at the live auction. Also from 7 to 9 p.m. we need five people to check out our winning bidders; at 9 p.m. four people are needed to clean up food from 9 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. we need five people cleaning up the barn and education center to restore it to its pre-auction state, which will include holding and stacking chairs and tables, gathering garbage, and gathering rental table cloths, glasses and china.

All of our auction volunteers are invited to a thank-you dinner at Morris Farm on Friday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m.
