Dear Editor:

Westport Islanders are fortunate to have Jeff Tarbox running for our vacant Second Selectman’s seat on June 8!

Having served as secretary of the Comprehensive Planning Committee, chair and treasurer of the History Committee, member of the Planning Board, Town Hall Committee and Broadband and Cable Committee, Jeff understands our town government and has demonstrated his commitment to our community. He’s also served on the Knox-Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District, is a trustee and treasurer of the Friends of Westport Island History, and a Life Member of the Westport Community Association.

He is the seventh generation Tarbox to live on the farm his ancestors originally settled in the 1770s. He has called the Island home for more than 40 years, working at BIW in planning and IT for more than a decade, then moving on to management consulting with U.S. businesses and government agencies across the country. Since retiring in 2016, he has deepened his involvement in and brought his many years of business experience to serving our town.

Jeff is devoted to the values we hold dear — preserving our community as a rural, friendly, affordable place while sensibly managing development.

We are lucky to have someone who brings such rich experience and deep commitment to our island willing to serve as 2nd Selectman. Thank you, Jeff!
