Vs.: A Poetry Competition Jan. 21
Please join us for our second iteration of Vs.: A Poetry Competition in 2 parts. The competition will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Skidompha Library. It is open to all ages, 4-104, and registration will be held the day of between 3:45 and 4:15. The event will be judged by Maya Williams, the former Poet Laureate of Portland.
The competition will be split into two parts: original poetry and recitation of favorite poems. Poems chosen for recitation do not need to be memorized. Regardless if it is an original or recitation piece, please bring two copies of your poem with you (one for you, one for the judge). Prizes will be given in a variety of categories.
The competition is sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb and the Maine Humanities Council. The first competition was a wonderful success, and we were happy to enjoy poetry with a wide range of ages, as both children and adults recited original and favorite poetry. We hope you will join us!
