The way
Our Jack Russell, Roobie, got me up before daylight to go out.
I had to go out, too.
I put on my super-warm Nautica jacket (a recent hand-me-down from Joe and Helena Bernath), my rare Grover's Hardware hat, boxers and rubber Crocs, and headed north.
It was cold and the night light showed fog forming crystals on the grass.
When we came in I put more wood on the fire and curled up on the couch so I could keep an eye on the stove, then promptly fell asleep.
During my “snooze” and through a bleary-eyed fog of my own, a small glint of light got my attention. Four people, laden with backpacks, chatted by a field in what appeared to be the Spanish countryside. I had rolled over on the remote control which started the replay of Martin Sheen's walk along el Camino de Santiago in “The Way.”
I was well dressed for the journey and returned to sleep.
