We are America’s voting team, We are America!
Dear Editor:
We are America — a country that knows teamwork, and a country that knows when you have lost your team to a plane crash like Marshall University, you get back up and honor those who gave their lives.
Was that easy for the West Virginia town of Huntington? No! America’s justice plane crashed in 2016. Every day our Thundering Herd of Justice for all struggles to forget the death and interruption of so many lives that were once our neighbors. When they die in school shootings, we mourn the loss, but stop action at the edge of the cemetery where lies the final resting place of our children. From the soles of our feet if we can get up again, we can win the game. For it is not the game of money, it is not the game of power, it is the game of life that paves the way for the next generation of voting Americans.
Our Thundering Herd of Americans arrived in this country with little money, but our imaginations, energy and drive to create a better world led the way for a team that grew to be great in care and concern, great in serving our country and great in bringing in more Americans.
We knew when the game was rigged. We knew it was rigged when we paid taxes like DACA, but were denied the right to vote. We recognize when the game is not just. How long do we wait to watch injustice and treason before we get off the floor? How long do we ignore the amount of harm to all the children when we remove them from their parents at an age all parents cherish and all children need?
The strongest country in the world is no longer a team. Are we a thundering herd that gets off the floor and says out loud what is unjust, or are we stuck in a heap of tears and angst siting by the final resting place of our country?
The answer is in our heart. How we play on the voting team from this moment on is how America will be remembered.
