2024 Mountainfilm On Tour - Back to Damariscotta for its 5th year with culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. This selection of films explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission: to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world. A fundraiser for Great Salt Bay Community School’s outdoor education-related activities. Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $15 adults, $5 youth under 17.

“To Kill A Mockingbird” - (1962; 2 hours, 9 minutes) - The third film in a new film series, Screen Thoughts, examining racial struggles on the screen, and hosted by writer and film reviewer Christine Merser. Scout Finch and her older brother Jem live in sleepy Maycomb, Ala., spending much of their time with their friend Dill and spying on their reclusive and mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. When Atticus Finch, their widowed father and a respected lawyer, defends a black man named Tom Robinson against fabricated rape charges, the trial and tangent events expose the children to evils of racism and stereotyping. “To Kill a Mockingbird is now the most banned book in America, making this a good time to evaluate its worth.” – Christine Merser. Exhibition on Screen: John Singer Sargent - (1 hour, 30 minutes) - Through interviews with curators, contemporary fashionistas and style influencers, Exhibition on Screen’s film will examine how Sargent’s unique practice has influenced modern art, culture and fashion. Filmed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Tate Britain, London, the exhibition reveals Sargent’s power to express distinctive personalities, power dynamics and gender identities during this fascinating period of cultural reinvention. Alongside 50 paintings by Sargent sit stunning items of clothing and accessories worn by his subjects, drawing the audience into the artist’s studio. LCCT – “Beauty & The Beast” - (Estimated running time: 2 hours, 30 minutes – with one 15 minute intermission) - For 1 weekend only! Lincoln County Community Theater presents a tale as old as time. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. Filled with spectacular costumes, music, and staging; directed by Emily Sue Barker, with choreography by Niall Lessard, Emily Mirabile, and Phaelon O’Donnell. Starring Joseph Lugosch as The Beast, Emily Bartley as Belle, and featuring Emily Mirabile as Mrs. Potts, Oscar Mirabile as Chip, Derek Kingsley as Lumiere, Stephen Wallace as Cogsworth, Roosevelt Bishop as Gaston, Niall Lessard as LeFou, Debra Arter as Madame de La Grand Bouche, Emily Sue Barker as Babette, Andy Barber as Maurice, and Zora Margolis as Madame D’Arque.
