This week at the Lincoln Theater
"Conclave" - (PG; 2 hours) - “Conclave” follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events -- selecting the new Pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the dead Pope’s wake, secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church. Final showtime Thursday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.
"Stagecoach" - (1939; 1 hour, 36 minutes) - We hope you’ll join us for the 4th film in this season’s Classic Film Club. John Wayne rocketed to stardom in director John Ford’s legendary Western, “Stagecoach.” Dubbed “Grand Hotel on Wheels,” “Stagecoach” tracks a group of strangers on a risky trip through Apache territory. Claire Trevor and Thomas Mitchell (who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar) top the cast of this box-office smash featuring heart-stopping action and incredible stunts. We are pleased to be joined at each Classic Film Club screening by film historian and CFC host, Jeannie MacDonald, for a pre-film introduction and post-screening talkback. Playing Thu Jan 2 at 7 PM and Fri Jan 3 at 2 PM. All classic films are open to the general public at regular film ticket prices. Tickets: $9 Adult, $6 LT Member and Youth (18 and under), FREE for Classic Film Club Members.
"Anora" - (R; 2 hours, 19 minutes) - Sean Baker's Palme d'Or winner ANORA is an audacious, thrilling, and comedic variation on a modern day Cinderella story. Mikey Madison (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood) captivates as Ani, a young sex worker from Brooklyn whose life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and impulsively marries Vanya, the impetuous son of a Russian billionaire. However, when Vanya's parents catch wind of the union, they send their henchmen to annul the marriage, setting off a wild chase through the streets of New York. Playing Friday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 9 at 2 and 7 p.m.
Acting class for adults – How to Play on the Stage - Lincoln Theater and Frances Mercanti-Anthony invite you to kick off 2025 with a brand new acting class! Acting is an empathy-based art form. The ability to crawl into someone else’s skin, and inhabit their being is a learned skill, and one rooted in trust, and truth. The journey there is one of constant discovery, and wonder. Who are we, really, and who are we when we are pretending to be someone else? That’s some of the stuff that we are going to explore through text exploration, physicality, and performance. Come join us to dive into character work, and play on the stage! Classes will be held at Lincoln Theater, Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Jan. 7 and continuing through Tuesday, Feb. 25 (8 classes in total). Enrollment is $200 and is limited to 12 participants. Visit LincolnTheater.org to enroll today.
Tickets are available in advance through the theater’s online box office at www.LincolnTheater.org. Remaining tickets are available at the door 30 minutes before showtime. Movie tickets are $9 adult and $6 LT member and youth 18 and under. Special event ticket prices vary. The Lincoln Theater is located at 2 Theater St. in downtown Damariscotta. Curtain going up!
