WES styles art after Andy Goldsworthy
The Ecology Club at Wiscasset Elementary School took advantage of the beautiful sunny weather on Oct. 21 to create artwork in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
After viewing a variety of slides displaying Goldworthy’s art that uses natural objects as a medium, the students gleefully took buckets outside to collect objects to create their own art. Students gathered leaves, acorns, flowers, twigs, and rocks. Then they settled into a carefully selected space to create pieces of art making use of colorful patterns.
Once the children were satisfied with the art they created, they did a gallery walk where each artist explained their process. Everyone left inspired to find the potential in all natural objects.
