Wiscasset selectmen eye hearing date for school closure vote
Wiscasset selectmen will consider a date of Nov. 20 for a public hearing on the upcoming town vote on whether or not to close Wiscasset Primary School. Setting the hearing date is on the board’s agenda for its Nov. 4 meeting.
Tuesday’s meeting at the municipal building starts at 7 p.m.
Voters will decide Dec. 9 whether or not to authorize the school committee to close the primary school after this school year. The committee approved the closure on Sept. 15; a citizen’s petition led to the referendum.
Also Tuesday night, selectmen will hold a public hearing on proposed parking restrictions on Morton Street; and consider funding the Good Shepherd Food Bank’s deliveries to the Church of the Nazarene and St. Philip’s Church. A grant had been covering the cost, according to the board’s packet for tonight’s meeting.
