Wiscasset’s Cory Rines has won $500,000 with a ticket he bought at Lil Mart, the Maine Lottery announced on Facebook and in a press release. The Route 1 store got a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket, a Lottery spokeswoman, Angie Helton of Northeast Media Associates, confirmed in an email response to questions Tuesday.

Rines won with a Jumbo Bucks instant ticket; he received a check for $350,000, the amount remaining after taxes, according to Helton.

The lottery’s Facebook post congratulates Rines and shows him holding an oversized check with both hands.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Lil Mart employee deferred all comment on the ticket’s sale to a Massachusetts office. A message left Tuesday afternoon was not immediately returned.
