Wiscasset, Wesport Island go to the polls
At the polls in Wiscasset, voters shared some of the reasons they came to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Conrad and Nancy Schilke are Obama supporters. They agree with each other that the most important issue facing our country today is the economy. “We vote in every election,” Conrad said. “It’s our duty.”
David and Kathy Vrooman said they voted for Republican Mitt Romney. In their opinion, the lack of jobs is a big issue facing our country. Although they said they have voted in every election, this Presidential election is a very important election.
Mel Applebee said, “I voted today because of the town’s local ballot questioning whether the town should accept the Montsweag Dam for the second time and to cast a vote for Mitt Romney.”
Applebee also said, “Foreign affairs and the economy are major issues that need to be focused on.”
Westport Island
When asked why he voted, Westport Island First Selectmen George Richardson said, “The reason I vote every year is to support the candidates I believe are the best for the county, state and nation.”
In his opinion the most important issues facing the county are the economy and the national debt.
